Interview Fisherman Kenton Geer

Voice recorded Kenton using new design. Likes it. Needs to be bigger. I'll be inserting notes here of the conversation. Secured Kenton for .5% advisory position. In exchange for couple hours of testing and feedback a week. I'll ad notes of the call here and maybe a recording.

Recording notes 10/30
- new design more streamlined and clear cut
- they can set inventory then would in range it could populate the inventory
- Longlines do have electronic inventory ability but it doesn't transmit to mainland we think.
- Doesn't think in Hawaii fishermen want people to know their are catching cause other fisherman know where they usually fish. Need a release data button for when they start heading in.
- Says that Oahu will be hardest place to launch this cause the powers that you think want local caught fish really benefit for the foreign fish. Plus he said that design will be easier for mainland fishing. Weight pricing won't be an issue their.
- Fishermen on outer islands would really love this cause they really get screwed there and the fish they sell is just stays on island but touches many hands before it goes to the people.
- Loves the idea of live inventory for buyers cause each time he sells direct he spends couple hours on phone saying exact same thing. Yes we have fish heres what we have, yes still selling.
-Wants to have are where people can't find out about fish they buying like how much it yields, know about fisherman, etc.
- Considers what he is as an Artisan fishery
- Fisherman catch as much they can cause they don't know what price they will get once they get to auction. So they don't always report all they caught. If they know what price they would get thy could fish more sustainable.
- Thinks it really scalable but needs a fillet side of business to go bigger. Lot's of people still buy the whole fish and always getting new customers.
- THIS LAST TRIP HE WAS 6 DAYS AT SEA 144HR AWAY FROM WIFE AND KID. HE CAUGHT 8K LBS 2500 HE SOLD DIRECT 5500LBS HE SOLD AT AUCTION, HE MADE SAME AMOUNT ON THE 2500LBS AS HE DID FROM THE 5500LBS AND ENJOYED MEETING THE PEOPLE BUYING. SOME PEOPLE BUY FOR THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD TO. AFTER 144 HRS AT SEA HE MADE $800 PROFIT OR $5.55 HR FOR HIMSELF.
